Care Group Ministry

The small group ministry in Trinity Methodist Church (TMC) Penang is known as the Care Group Ministry.  It is a very important ministry in the church.  It seeks to aid in the development of the individual and corporate Christian lifestyle.  The small group has always been a very important force for renewal in the Christian church and Trinity Methodist Church Penang is discovering this.

In TMC Care Groups were formed for the following purposes:

1.  To worship and obey Christ

The main reason for the Care Group is to honour God, worship and obey Him.  The unique characteristic of the Care Group is the centrality of Christ in our fellowship.

2.  To live under the authority of God’s Word

The prime purpose of our Care Group is to use all the means at our disposal to hear what the Bible is actually saying so that we can become true disciples of Jesus Christ our Lord.

3.  To be a structure of hope

The significant purpose of our Care Group is to be a structure of hope.  In a world where there is so much uncertainties, despair, alienation and loneliness, the Care Group seeks to bring God to the people, give a listening ear to the traumatized, open door of acceptance and care, serve as ambassadors of love to our peers with the power of the living Christ.

4.  To inculcate fellowship

As Christians we are concerned about being able to share with one another, have mutual interests, care for one another and love one another.  People find it difficult to show love and concern in a larger gathering where by and large they remain strangers.  We believe the deep commitments to each other are being fostered in Care Groups.

5.  To bring people to a living faith in Christ

Our Care Groups play an important role in awakening and reawakening people to their need of Christ, and help people to make an informed, thoughtful, life transforming response to the gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord.  We believe that the Care Group can be a warm place for evangelism.

From the above 5 purposes, we clearly see them aligned to our church

Vision statement: “Spreading Scriptural Holiness, Transforming the Nation” and

Mission statement: “Lifelong Discipleship, Wholesome Families, A Voice to Our Nation, A Vision for the World”.

In TMC we have more than a dozen Care Groups at present.  The Care Groups meet in:

• Air Hitam,
• Church (5),
• Cheeseman Road,
• Island Glades,
• Taman Century,
• Sri Nibong,
• Sungai Ara (3),
• Metro East
• Island Park
• Tanjung Bungah

Our prayer and desire is that every church member and friend will join a Care Group in TMC and grow in Christ with everyone.
